Inside there is a straight iron support wrapped in cloth. It is straight to allow
for shrinkage and sagging during the building process, the cloth prevents the
clay from clinging to the iron rod. I usually play around with the clay for a couple of days like this, making many rough changes, getting a feel for where I want to go with the piece. I had the ideal of a head with fins at this point, something like the Mark III Angel. |
